and this is why when I write about oppression, I also remind lower income white people that the first recipients of oppression were the poorest of the poor Europeans, while in Europe and in the USA.
The only thing that prevents a lot of poorer white people from seeing it is the propaganda of “us vs them” that has convinced so many that black and brown people are the cause of their hardships, instead of the white-majority 1% who continually abuse the system in their own favor.
It’s what equally saddens me as infuriates me when I see poor white people support political figures, like Trump, who have no issue gutting programming like Medicare and Medicaid and food stamps, which are meant to take care of the very people they abuse the most: the poverty stricken of all colors.
