Before you read this poem, I wanted to mention how cathartic it is to review poetry from years ago. It’s the reason I date most of what I write; so I can reflect on where I’ve been. 2013 was a very difficult year and it’s the reason I moved to a new city in May 2013. Here was something I wrote before making the decision to make a change.

Maybe just

… maybe i needed some kinda release or epiphany

cause this currently is restricting me

like birds in cages

Ms. Angelou tell me did you ever find that key to freedom?

and… can I please be the next recipient?

cause im missing the way the cool breeze feels beneath me

… and i’m wishing for more days inside the tops of this atmosphere

so i can see the bigger picture

and find my way around the maze im presently trapped in

Im first mate without a captain

… and this ship is somewhere off the map… can

… you send me signals inside the stars

cause i understand the complex navigation

only i cant see the sky

when im surrounded by 100% precipitation
