I was asked: How do I find a house before moving to another state?

If you are moving out of state,
I am sharing the general guidelines for all of you!
I have helped several clients relocate out-of-state and moving into my state so based on my experience, Here’s some info to help whether you buy or rent:
- Hire a local realtor with a great reputation. I can refer to someone in most states. They will be your eyes and ears until you can be present. This also prevents being a victim of fraudulent home ads. Click HERE to request a referral (more info below)
- Know exactly what you need in a home. This will help the Realtor locate the best options for you.
- If you are Buying and not paying cash, provide your lender with proof that you will be moving to that state and that the purchase will be the primary residence. This will allow you to get the lower down payment, instead of the investment or second home down payments.
- Prepare to have video tours of home options. During the video tours, have all faucets and toilets checked for proper water flow, make sure all the lights work, look for signs of water damage, check for signs of uneven foundations. etc. I have tricks to detect these.
