Is Jealousy Holding You Back?

This entry into my blog is loosely tied to real estate, simply because it’s about an issue that exists in all industries and in all parts of a person’s life.

Jealousy is often overlooked because it mimics other things, or at least, we don’t call it “jealousy.”

Instead people will say, “I just don’t like that person” or “I have an issue with something about them, I’m not jealous.” On the surface, it may not seem like a big deal. Why expose your own jealousy? Why examine the jealousy others may feel about you?

Because Jealousy is one of the biggest barriers to growth and collaboration.

Undiagnosed, jealousy causes errors in judgment and creates conflict. People who should work together for greater growth for all, won’t; simply because they misunderstand the feeling that is causing the barrier.

So what does Jealousy look like?

Here are a few examples:

• Hesitating to offer an opportunity or share opportunity with the other person.
• Disregarding the person’s skills and saying they are too annoying to work with.
