Neelam is right, “Being woke doesn’t have to mean broke”
How to advance finances with your activism intact and central
I have noticed some very kind and amazing people feeling unsure about pursuing economic advancement.
When one particular person found out I officially started buying property, he was shocked because in his mind, how could someone pursue economic accrual of real estate and resources and put forth energy into community building.
Another person asked detailed questions about my process because in their mind, wealth accumulation was tied to abusing others.
We have to stop that thought process.
It reminds me of how long the church taught people to be meek and poor, because the poor and meek would inherit the “Earth” in some phase of existence. Yet, which “phase” or time was never made clear so that the people would remain docile and apathetic within their own lives and communities.
The church taught the adage “turn the other cheek,” as a guiding principle in all moments. But I am pretty sure that Jesus never intended for anyone to simply “turn the other cheek” and accept abuse or oppression.
