But what do you really do now that… duhn duhn duhn… her body is starting to look like a woman’s?
1 CHILL
Don’t make her more nervous than SHE already is. If you seem freaked out about her changes it will just amplify her own insecurity about her changing body.
2 UNDERSTAND
She’s scared. She doesn’t know what part of childhood she has to let go of, and what parts of adulthood to prepare for.
She doesn’t want to seem “weird” but EVERYTHING feels weird to her. It’s a very uncomfortable place to be. She wants to be viewed as pretty. She wants to see herself as pretty. She also really wants to be seen as SPECIAL.
3 Indirectly SUPPORT HER, but do not call attention to the changes,
especially in any public settings.
What is “indirect support”? Compliments and conversation that innately shows you respect her growth from a child into a young lady, without saying those words explicitly.
For example, asking her opinion on something she likes to talk about: fashion, hair, some new topic in the news, etc. Complimenting her style choices, even…
