I just read this piece by Susan Kelley and was inspired to share part of my journey as well.

I gave birth to my amazing daughter in June 2006. Her father and his sister had been incredibly toxic throughout the pregnancy, I was working 2 jobs, and dealing with an emotionally immature man and his codependent sister.
In fact, my water broke while I was at my 2nd job working as a house manager at a homeless shelter for women. I had no idea in a few years, I’d be without a home as well.
I wanted desperately to keep our family together at this point, or at the least make the best effort I could so I would have no guilt if I decided to leave. By the time our daughter was 18 months old, I realized things were not…
