You Have to Unpack The Trauma
Notice I said “the” Not “your” as is a common collocation.
Why?
Because trauma and pain is not your thing. It is not a thing you possess or own. In fact, I want you to change your perspective right here and now before you read further.
Trauma is leftover garbage from a past experience. It’s the leftover junk someone or something else dropped into your life path. Imagine the junk, the garbage, the foulness of it all.
Create this visual of yourself inside a room filled with garbage.
It is NOT yours. It is “the trauma. It is the TRASH someone or something left behind.
Now let’s move on to the core of this article.
You have to unpack the trauma.
Revelation 1: There’s steps to this shit.
As with any physical mess, the emotional mess of past events has stages to the process of cleaning. Step 1, you remove the big pieces. Step 2, you sweep up the smaller pieces and put them in the trash bag. Step 3, You haul all the bags one at a time to the street.
