Your “Damn” Meter is About to Go Off: Some of yall need to get off your ass
This is just not one of those moments that I can speak gently or try to protect feelings. You need to get off your ass.
Who is “you”?
You is the person who blames current status on things that happened years ago. Trauma or not. The tough love message says, “Honey, you are no longer in that place physically, so the only way you stay trapped mentally and spiritually is by YOUR choice.”
Somebody will say that’s not fair because some trauma is longlasting and we’ll need therapy and as Gabrielle Union said, maybe some more wine.
Oh I get that and I don’t doubt that at all but…
while the feeling of mental anguish may endure, that trauma is not the cause of your stagnation, it’s just a convenient excuse.
If an athlete gets a sprained ankle, they initially wrap it in ice and keep it elevated, right? Then they wrap it to keep it stabilized and then spend a few weeks in recovery, stretching and flexing the injured muscle. Finally, they take those first steps back into actively playing their sport.
Your wounds are no different.
